Support Programs


University Music Major Scholarships: a scholarship awarded to a Music Major who is a Virginia resident attending one of the state’s preeminent universities. This year we awarded three scholarships, one to University of Virginia, one to James Madison University, and one to Virginia Commonwealth University.

Student Symphony Player Music Lesson Scholarships: funds for private music lessons awarded to four student players in the Charlottesville Symphony at the University of Virginia.

Educational Outreach Funds: 

WMC annually awards funding to public school music programs in Charlottesville as well as Albemarle and surrounding counties.  The club provided 11 awards in 2021-22 to the following schools:

Agnor Hurt Elementary School (Albemarle County): recorder packages

Crozet Elementary School (Albemarle County): Bass bar sets

Henley Middle School (Albemarle County): violins for a new string program

Hollymead Elementary School (Albemarle County): new Orff instruments

Monticello High School (Albemarle County) sheet music for the area’s first Caribbean steel drum band

Ruckersville Elementary School (Greene County): new Orff instruments

Tye River Elementary School (Nelson County): new xylophones

Walker Upper Elementary School (Charlottesville) : a new horn and new flutes

William Monroe Middle School (Greene County): hardware/software to expand music program classes and new digital pianos
