WEDNESDAY MUSIC CLUB ANNUAL COMPETITION

 

This yearly competition offers community students the opportunity to compete for music camp scholarships and monetary prizes. It takes place every year in late January, with students then performing their winning pieces in early to mid February at a recital open to the public.

 

This past year’s WMC 2026 Annual Competition took place on Saturday, January 24, 2026. Thirty-eight students participated and of these, 14 won music camp scholarships and monetary awards. On February 8, winners performed at the WMC Winners Recital held at The Center.

 

The 2027 Annual Competition is in the planning stages and key information regarding the application process and competition rules will appear on this page in September.

 

Competition categories include:

 

Junior Camp Scholarship Division: open to students ages 10 to 13 on the day of the Competition. A student may win this division only once. A Junior Camp division winner may not compete in the Senior Camp division the following year.

 

Senior Camp Scholarship Division: open to students ages 14 to 18 on the day of the Competition.  A student may win this division only once. High school graduates are not eligible.  Vocalists are permitted to enter the Senior Camp category.

 

High School Division - Open to students in Grades 9 to 11: all instruments, including vocalists. Vocalists in Grade 12 also are eligible.  First-place winners may not compete in this category the following year.

 

Senior Division - Open to students in Grade 12, not including voice.

 

Composition Division - Open to students ages 10 to 18. First-place winners may not compete in this category the following year.  Two students may collaborate on a composition.   Vocal compositions, with accompaniment, are permitted.
